About the Owner
Marcus Ker
Born in London in 1987, Marcus began studying Japanese while at university and later continued to master the language through self-study. He spent several years living in Australia for his love of surfing, during which time he worked as a crew member on boats and managed accommodation facilities, making the most of his language skills. In 2021, Marcus moved to Japan after getting married. He now works primarily as a translator and also assists with a tour company in Akakura during the winter season. In 2024, he had a chance encounter with the house that would become Meanwhile Woods — a beautiful, comfortable space he felt compelled to share with others. Now open as a guesthouse, it serves as a base for exploring new possibilities in the Myoko Kogen area. His hobbies include surfing, kitesurfing, playing musical instruments, and reading.
